After an 11 hour drive from the UK I just wanted some good french food and a bottle of wine. This restaurant hit the spot, although if you are a 'non' french speaker then on arrival you may get a little confused, so some tips.On arrival find a free table...Go to the starters area get your tray and cutlery, chose a starter (if you want one), get your drinks and then pay for that at the till, where you also order your main course at the same time.Once you have paid you will get a ticket for each main course, which you can take up to the cooking area once you have finished your starters. Next door to our hotel, we found this cafe, self-service with a difference: it's all fresh-cooked and you can go back for more of the side dishes... We were gasping for a beer, having been travelling all day, but could only buy it with food, and only after 6.30pm when the food service began.Once we grasped this and prepaid our food we were happy and in advance settled down with drinks to await our chosen meals being cooked. We saw that the place was quite full on a visit to the area mid June 2010, so ventured in. Well - 2 free glass of Kir, Steak Frites, Chicken Pasta, Apricot tart and custard all for about 14 Euros! Not fantastic food, but certainly nothing wrong with it (& you can stand at the grill to tell the Chef exactly how you want your steak cooked), good selection of veggies to go with mains & plenty of it, all fresh cooked. We could have had huge pieces of grilled salmon and beef stew was also on offer. If staying @ Ibis Sallanches again, would certainly pop in for another quick meal.
How anyone can go across the road to McDonalds with Cresendo there is beyond my comprehension. The food is not gourmet, or maybe not to the restartaunt standard (depends on the restaurant) but it is very good. The price is reasonable for what you get, and there are often special deals. The decor is a bit dated (compared to Cluses), but still fine. There is a system to get the hang of. For tea, coffee, and hot food you get a ticket when you pay, and you bring that ticket to the respective area. The veg are all you can eat!

It's a cafeteria, and it acts like a cafeteria. Our French is not good, and the three employees who showed us how the system works were polite and helpful. The salmon, while not what my fisherman relative catches in Oregon, US, was good enough. Crescendo is like eating in a North American cafeteria with a significant upgrade in the cheese section: inexpensive, plenty of food, and comfortable.
Adjacent to the Carrefour Supermarket it provides lots of choices in a menu changing daily. Its a cafeteria style where you order and pay at the till and then take your ticket to one of the chefs areas where they cook and serve. You then help yourself to vegetables etc. It was such good value we made a return trip a few days later. Well worth a visit if you are in the area!
Lovely self service restaurant based in the shopping centre next door to Carrefour....we went there after shopping for lunch. And again later in the week for a family dinner. Very clean restaurant. Great choice of food. Cooked to order. Staff pleasant and helpful. And a great price too. Well impressed. Can definately recommend to anyone visiting the area.
Not a bad place to eat once you work out how to get your food. Order at the till and then go find the grill section and hand over the ticket or get given a pager device that tells you when your pizza is ready. Vegetables are serve yourself.Basic food which is nothing to write home about but balanced by the fact that it's relatively cheap and convenient.

We always visit here when in the area so 6 times a year or so.Always clean and well stocked, range of choice is always good. Ideal for a family visit especially if the kids are a bit fussy as you can guarantee you can find something. Self service on veg and chips goes down well.
