Reseña★★★
Traditional lively restaurant in the middle of the historic center. Since my student time it has evolved from a bistro style to a higher level Italian (pizza) brasserie hybrid. Food is actually good an enjoyable with a somewhat higher price/quality ratio than other places around but acceptable. Service can be slow and I experienced billing mistakes a couple of times. This can happen, nothing really to complain about, but I have less comprehension for the management attitude when this is pointed out.
Very pleasant setting and location but unfortunately very mediocre cuisine and service which sometimes leaves something to be desired. Salad flooded with sauce, limp fries, decomposed South American tartar, not very tasty and tasteless, to name just a few examples of failures that should not happen in a good restaurant. It is possible to eat properly at La Croix Blanche but don't expect consistency and qualitative rigor. I have been very disappointed with the dishes on several occasions.
The raw ham pizza was poor in ingredients: after the tomato sauce and mozzarella, a few horizontal slices of raw ham, that's all. No capers, no olives, no pizza spices, no ruccola. The last time I ate a Caesar salad, the chicken was dry, there was very little sauce, and it didn't have much flavor.
Visited Le Croix a number of times and the food and staff never fail to impress great pizza, lovely pasta and tasty salads good portions and a solid wine selection ... sitting outside is the best, personally would avoid tables upstairs.
