Upon arrival, we were told by the manager that there were no scones available for the afternoon tea. We asked whether there would be extra different cakes. He smiled and went away. He brought us our cups of tea and we then waited 25 minutes for the sandwiches and cakes to arrive. By which time the tea was cold so we asked for more, which arrived quickly. The sandwiches we very plain. Plain cheese, plain egg and plain ham. No additions to the sandwiches such as chutney or tomatoes or even a slice of cucumber! This was not the afternoon tea experience I had hoped to offer our Ukrainian guests. We faced a delay at the beginning because it seemed our booking hadn’t gone through properly. When the food finally arrived, we were disappointed to find cream cheese instead of clotted cream served with the scones. Although we asked for tea and were promised complimentary coffee due to the wait, that never happened. The location is beautiful, with stunning views, and the food was good when it finally arrived (aside from the cream issue). Overall, it was a rather average experience and felt overpriced at £25 per person.
I made a reservation for two at Kronplatz Caversham online. When I arrived, the staff seemed unaware that afternoon tea was booked. I showed the manager the confirmation I had received from the waiter. The manager explained that there wasn't enough food prepared for two people for the afternoon tea. We had to wait over an hour to be served, and when the food finally arrived, it consisted of just four sandwiches, two scones, two desserts, and two pieces of fruit. While I paid half the price for the meal, given the lack of service, I feel like I should have received it for free!
the worst afternoon I've ever seen. consisting of 2 tiny strawberries cut in 4 halves, 1 tiny cake cut in 2 halves, 2 small scorpions, no chocolate eclairs only 2 tiny chocolate goose, where the lower layer had come off, possibly still stuck at the lower end of the package. the sandwiches were dry and seemed as if they had made earlier and now dry both tees were cheap quality without distinctive taste. probably a review should be set up so that the public can see. crowne plaza must appeal. I would like to welcome the opportunity to discuss further.

I had a lovely afternoon tea experience; the food was delicious, but it felt a bit pricey at £65 for a three-tier cake stand for three people. While there was certainly enough to eat, it seemed like they spread the offerings across two stands just to make it feel like better value. Additionally, we were at Dobbies Garden Center and found their afternoon tea at £13.50 per person, which offered much more food with better deals.
The service was the worst service I have ever experienced in a hotel. I am not sure what was going on behind the scenes, but the restaurant team were not working well. The manager was very professional apologetic. But I will Never go back!
Went for afternoon tea, service awful, no scones or cream, husband went to waitrose and brought scones, cream and Jam, never asked how everything is, no apology at all. Terrible afternoon tea
Staff were great very helpful attentive and understanding as were held up in traffic and arrived late. I did let them know though. Friendly clean safe. Def recommend

Excellent food, clean and excellent service. Only Downside was the smell of tobacco smoke wafting through the restaurant from the outside seating area.
