I used to visit this restaurant regularly when it was Sylhet but having retired from Police Headquarters (opposite the restaurant) in 2014, I hadn 't been aware of Sylhet closing its doors about one year ago and Cumin evolving in its place. Once I became aware of this I looked at the reviews for Cumin on Tripadvisor and they were very encouraging so I booked a table for two and hubby and I went last Friday15 November. We were well known by the staff at Sylhet and always received a really warm welcome and had a chat withe manager whenever time permitted. Excellent evening. The reception was prompt and courteous and we were asked to take a seat in the waiting area. We chose our food whilst having a drink and after a brief wait we were shown to our table . It's a relaxed and modern decor and the tables aren't close to each other . We had poppodoms for starters which came with 6 sauces each of which were superb. The mains came quickly afterwards without a long delay. Both were so fresh and tasty with the rice cooked perfectly. I had the South Indian chilli chicken dish which was spicy and amazing to taste. The drink prices are good with a bottle of red for £14. Overall an excellent evening with great food , prompt service and a reasonable cost...
This was our second visit for the thali tapas offer on a Tuesday and it was just as good as last time. 3 curries (1 lamb, 1 chicken, 1 veg), onion bhajis, seekh kebabs, pilau rice and garlic naan bread all for the bargain price of £8.95. Everything tasted amazing and the service was fantastic. Can't wait to return again soon. The menu for the thali is changed weekly and announced in advance on their Facebook page.
