Da Renato - Reservar una mesa

I basically had to write a review for Da Renato on the strength of the pizza alone. I've had a lot of pizza in a lot of different restaurants in Geneva, and this was probably one of the very best. I ordered the margherita with...cherry tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella--nothing fancy, just really well-prepared and very flavorful. I went with my father, who had a beef tartar he said was also very good. Chianti was also quite tasty, and prices were reasonable--I think my pizza was about CHF, roughly what you'd pay in any other restaurant. Wine by the glass was on the cheaper side. Service was good, attentive without being overbearing. Ambiance was a little mixed--when we first got there at on a Thursday, the restaurant was almost totally empty, but by the time we left around it had filled up considerably. Not so noisy that we couldn't hear our own conversation, though, even with a huge table taken up by a big family with young children right behind us. Decor was a little too modern for me, but at least they've made a nice effort, and honestly I'd go back for the pizza (yes, I'm repeated myself

This was my first visit to the restaurant. It was a warm sunny day and the or so chairs and tables outside had ample room for visitors. The outdoor area feels very much more of a café, bistro rather than anything more formal but...the menu being classic French had all of the usual favourites. The team were warm and helpful and recognising it being a business lunch, were fast and efficient. The menu comprised a la carte and a set lunch menu, the pasta with seafood apparently is a speciality, but I chose the carpaccio of beef and the fillet of beef as a main course, both of which were superb. This restaurant would be perfect for an informal business lunch or a more relaxed dinner, particularly as the indoor area was smart and fresh and clean and ideal for a winter meal. Outdoors being perfect with the ample seating. Certainly a place to visit for those in the vicinity.

Had only pizze so cannot comment on other meals. And, although they cover it with toppings quite generously, I cannot commend the place and would not recommend it to Italian pizza lovers the dough is too think, too little of pizza sauce, too much...of cheese and excessive toppings. As a result, the pizza gets quite unbalanced and tastes like a cheese pie. Good thing to have when you are starving but only if you want to have a cheese pie, not pizza.

We were at Da Renato for an evening dinner with friends. The Italian food is good but nothing exceptional and lacks a bit of originality. The servings are generous. As to the service, it was really below what I expected. Around the personnel started...to make us understand that they wanted to go home by cutting the music and getting dressed. Also, the wine advice was poor. I am not sure I would return.

This restaurant deserves six stars. The food is epic, outstanding, in a class of its own. Service and ambiance are at the same level. Recommend without reservation.
