Dampfnudel Uli - Reservar una mesa

A must in Regensburg, the open hours are limited to a few hours 10 am to 3 pm, therefore and given popularity, there is always a rush of people waiting to come inside. “Luckily”, in these special times of eliminating coronavirus restrictions, I could immediately get a table and gave the opportunity to cook the renowned “steam noodle with vanilla sauce”, which has been cooked by the owner Uli for more than 40 years. It is basically a very soft bread with hot vanilla sauce on top, could be a dessert, but also the main course. I liked it, but it can not be special for others, anyway there are other dishes to choose. The best is definitely the service and the atmosphere, full sentences and photos with people visiting the restaurant.

Everybody loves this place, but I am not fully convinced. The Café-like place is urig (original, cosy) in the Bavarian sense. There is lots of kitsch everywhere and that creates a rather interesting atmosphere. I am, however, not a fan of the main product. Since everybody tells me it is great, even Chef of the century, Herr Witzigmann (see the wall in the place, there is handwritten greeting note from him) it is clear that either I am wrong or we got there on a bad day. However, I found neither the Dampfnudel nor the Zwetschgenkuchen nor the Vanillasauce up to standard. I still like the place though for the atmosphere and the people. Go there and make up your own mind.

Great place for lunch with a mix of local and touristy feel. Owner/chef is friendly and very welcoming as is the staff. Of course you have to try the Dampfnudel. It’s a desert and entree all in one!

They're for a treat! This restaurant is so cozy and cute. I had the steam noodle and it was great! Very recommended.
