I was so excited to try the matcha ice cream but sadly they were out. The guy behind the counter was so nice to me though and let me taste a couple flavors he thought I would like based on my flavor palate and honestly, as soon as he handed me the Ube flavor, I was set on that. This ice cream is the thickest, creamiest, most magical ice cream I've ever had in my life. It melts SLOW, even in the heat. The waffle cone was thin, crunchy, not overly sugary perfection and held the ice cream well. I had zero mess, that's how magical this ice cream is. Can't go wrong supporting local, and no one more local than Dave's Ice Cream. This location has been around for years! Before 2020, I believe they used to be open until 10 and although late, it was quite necessary (imo). Nothing beats ice cream after a last minute dinner at Zippy's with your friends. This specific night my friends and I stopped by, it still amazed me how many people still came in during their last hour of service. They close at 9PM now and it's great to see how many families and groups of people come in to support the ice cream shop until the end. I hadn't been to this place in over 20 years. Their ice cream is made in Hawaii, offering a great selection of local Hawaiian flavors that you won't find anywhere else. We tried the Banana Royale Sundae—one with Chocolate Mac (macadamia nuts) and the other with Coconut Mac, both topped with whipped cream. We finished our sundaes quickly, which could either mean the portions were too small or that it tasted fantastic; I think it’s a bit of both. How many ice cream flavors are enough? Trick question—there will never be enough! Here, you'll find at least 31 different delicious flavors of authentic Hawaiian ice cream, and they'll even let you sample them all! Each flavor is amazing, and you really can’t go wrong with any of them. I tried ube and caramel macadamia, while my husband opted for butter pecan and lemon chiffon. Everything was so delicious! If I lived closer, I'd be visiting every day and bringing all my friends along!

I purchased 2.5 gallons of melona mochi ice cream, but when we tried it, there was no mochi in it at all. I called to request a refund, and they initially agreed. However, later in the day, I received a call stating that I couldn’t get a refund because it was the factory’s fault, not theirs. I ended up wasting almost $60 on this ice cream. I won't be returning anytime soon. It’s definitely not worth my time or money, and I’ve lost my trust in their service.

Awesome assortment of ice cream flavors--tried two, single scoop cups of the Mac Nut, and Strawberries and Cream flavors. One of the best Mac Nut ice creams I've had thus far! An aromatic nuttiness that wasn't overly rich with some crunchy bites to tantalize the palate. Only somewhat questionable aspect was the gruff, and seemingly begrudging customer service--if you know I'm willing to go back despite this, you know the ice cream must be good LOL!

I love how friendly the staff is, they always encourage me to try new flavors and are incredibly patient no matter how busy they are. The place is clean and well maintained. My go-to flavor no matter how many other samples I have is the Ube. It just tastes so good. I love that the ice cream here is based on local flavors and is handmade. Good ice cream, but not great. Great service makes an average place better, but that isn 't on the menu at Dave 's Ice Cream Aiea. To quote Shrek It will do Donkey .
