"The small village of Chancy at the most western tip of Switzerland. Some 16km from the centre of Geneva you may expect wholesome countryside food. Not so the Cafe de la place serves highly sophisticated dishes of impeccable quality. Lunch menus (Wed to Fri) are particularly advantageous but you will always be delighted with the dishes concocted by the chef."

There are many hidden gems in the villages around Geneva, and this is one of them. We had a nice family dinner here, sitting on the lush terrace in the back yard. The amuse bouche was really lovely, and then some of us tried les filets de perche and some the beef. It was all delicious. The desserts we had at the end were all very good. The prices are a little bit on the heavy side, they seem to be slightly above average for village restaurants around the area. I would have liked a sallad or some kind of greens with the filets de perches as well, but overall it was a lovely experience, albeit slightly overpriced. We are looking forward to trying this place again this winter!

A spontaneous Sunday lunch for two, warm and friendly service, amuse bouche of chamois rillettes was meaty and creamy and lightly herby and unexpected. As was the wonderful beetroot cream before two excellent game dishes: wild board and chamois. Served with chestnuts, sweet potato puree and other vegetables and a pear with blackcurrant. Very high attention to detail and lovely presentation. Dessert is certainly worth having too. Local 50cl of red from a nearby domaine in Soral. This place is worth the trip out from Geneva, I recommend making a booking though as you may not be as lucky as we were.

About 4 years ago we went for dinner at this place and had a bad experience, both in terms of quality of the food, and the service and attention. We decided to give it another try last week, and came out fully satisfied, impressed with the quality of the food and happy with the kind attention of the two hostesses. We savoured the game menu, my wife chamois, I had wild board both deliciously prepared and appealingly presented. The attention was forthcoming and personalized so lesson learned, don't just go by a first impression. We will not wait another four years to return.

Welcoming was nice and agreable. All the details are considered: ambiance, atmosphere, great dishes and service, welcoming as a CLIENT, personalising the first contact and every aspect of the experience in the restaurat. Every dish was a DREAM: the amuse-bouches , entrée, main: chasse, one of the best meats that I had in my life! After a lovely moment the lady in charge introduce us to the chef, her husband. An absolutely must if you love the good cuisine.
