De Lucia's Pizzeria

The pizza, just a small plain, was, perhaps, the best I have ever had except for the one in Venice, Italy. Thin, crispy crust. Excellently balanced tomatoes and cheese with just enough oil to enhance, but not overwhelm their combined taste. The place began in 1918. The dining are, which seats roughly 40, was probably renewed around the 60’s but not much since. Still, it was clean and neat. From what I saw, the kitchen is gloriously original as is the method by which the food is cooked. This is a BYOB, but do not expect to pair your wine with pastas. My family has been enjoying DeLucia's pizza for three of the four generations of the DeLucia family. It's rare to find such a perfect and exquisite example of what Neapolitan pizza should be. And for those who say DeLucia's pizza is 'overcooked,' you clearly don't understand how pizza is *meant* to be cooked.

Absolutely fantastic! This is, without a doubt, the best pizza in New Jersey. The crust is just right, bursting with flavor, and the sauce is spot on. They use the ideal amount of cheese. We make a 45-minute trip every week just for Delucia's Pizza!

A central jersey staple for over 100 years and a staple of my household as soon as we tasted the calzones. We’ll forever have fond memories of this place and most significantly because my wife’s water broke here! There’s no place like it.

I have 2 favorite pizzas and this is one of them. Great plus for DeLucia is that the Calzones should die here! Real Brick Furnace, the other pizza places not to compare!
