I'm not sure how the restaurant received 4.5 stars because the food definitely didn't taste like a 4 star. The jollof rice didn't have any aroma or taste to it. No hint of thyme, curry or chicken seasoning was present. I grew up eating jollof rice and egusi stew and what I had today was a disappointment. The stew ontop of the jollof rice tasted like tomatoe paste, I had to scrap it off the rice. Please don't waste your money at this place. It takes at least 1 hour to make a good quality jollof rice and this rice tasted like it took less than 30 mins with minimum effort. I really should have read the reviews before spending my time and money at this place. First of all, it took ages to place my order, and I ended up waiting nearly an hour to get my food. Growing up eating jollof rice set my expectations quite high, and I can't explain how disappointed I was! It tasted more like bland, parboiled rice with tomato paste and microwaved frozen fried plantains. To make matters worse, I spotted something that looked like an eyelash in the sauce. What a waste of money! I haven’t tried anything else on their menu, so I can’t comment on those, but definitely steer clear of the jollof rice.
I come here often go Egusi soup served with pounded yam . I got turned on here by my friend and I have been coming ever since then. If you are used to authentic African food you will know that De Ranch is the real deal. The people that matters in Africa community eat here De Ranch is actually for the elite in African and Caribbean food If you ever think that the food is tasteless or not good enough for you, you must have the wrong taste bud. Dreadful. I had to look at other comments to be sure I wasn't imagining things. I don't understand how some restaurants operate under the radar of health officials. This one ought to have been shut down...padlocked for good. This is a ****** waste of money and time. The arrogance of the owner of the restaurant is unbelievable, but one must understand that it is a tribal/ethnic disease. Save yourself the agro, I have had one for your sake...Just Walk Away.

I found this restaurant to be quite pricey for the portion sizes. The suya was dry and tough, served on just one skewer with very little meat. The jollof rice was soggy and lacked flavor, making for a disappointing meal. I paid $30 for the combination of jollof rice and suya, and I was left very disappointed. I won’t be coming back to this location and I cannot recommend it.
The prices for cassava leaves at this restaurant are outrageously high, and I wouldn't recommend it. Other African restaurants in the area offer it for less and it tastes much better. Additionally, the woman with glasses has a questionable attitude, and I'm not sure why they're so stingy with the amount of meat they serve.
I love this place for which Cassava leaves die. Pascal (the owner) and his staff are wonderful with their customer service. Your food is always fresh and delicious. I would recommend this place to everyone. I come here at least 2/3 times a week!
I love this restaurant I have been coming here for over 20 years . I am happy to rediscover that the food is even better and the service is good. I will keep coming back
