My initial visit to this restaurant was outstanding. The pizza was fantastic, the atmosphere was delightful, the wine was excellent, the chocolate cake was divine, and the tea was superb. At $40, it felt like a great deal, and the service was also top-notch, which made it deserving of a tip. However, I don’t want to criticize De Vita too harshly, but during a few subsequent visits, I was completely overlooked. When I moved to the northern beaches from the inner west I was worried about my distance from Leichhardt and Haberfield. How was I going to get my quality Italian food fix, I worried? This place is a must go in Manly, you must book a table though. The gnocchi is just like your imaginary Italian nonna made it. The pizzas are thin and crispy bursting with flavor The service is brilliant, the worlds tallest Italian is the friendliest bloke and the chefs all keep an eye on the customers making sure you are happy. The place is always packed with a range of people from families to couples to large parties all enjoying themselves, the atmosphere is always so welcoming. The positives: I thoroughly enjoyed the octopus salad, which arrived in a timely manner. The negatives: the service was lacking. Even though I asked about my order and noticed the cooks on their phones, it took more than an hour for my pizza to arrive. The owner did apologize and mentioned that someone had mistakenly taken my octopus entrée. A note: I was seated at the bar, so perhaps the service is better if you're at a table.
Fantastic Italian restaurant in Manly! We had our New Year's Eve dinner here and it was a wonderfully relaxed choice. The pizzas are outstanding (definitely the best in Manly), and it’s BYO, which is a nice touch. The service was excellent as well. I would definitely come back!
We just returned from Italy and this food is better than anything we had in Europe. Owners are all Italian. Gnocchi tasted like it was made 30 seconds earlier fresh and absolutely delicious. Margherita pizza is Naples perfect.
Excellent example of Naples style pizza! I had the diavolo; perfectly balanced ingredients, char, and deliciously chewy crust. Also got the garden salad, which was far from the afterthought that most are by this name.
