In an effort to support the vegetarian restaurants in our area, my wife and I decided to have lunch at Democracy.Here's the first thing that bugs me....I don't mind paying for food when I order it, but it really bothers me when the credit card machine prompts me for a tip amount. I mean why am I tipping now? I don't now if the food is any good. I haven't received any service yet so I don't know if it's worth a tip or not but I still leave a tip because I don't know what will happen if I don't leave one at that time. Fun post moving day lunch. Waited a bit for service, which was slow. Had the option to go up and order at the counter, so did that. Orders for cauliflower wings, quinoa salad bowl, loaded fries, taco salad, mac and cheese, and drinks. Drinks came, but long finished before the food arrived. Wings were surprisingly good. Crisp and chewy on the outside and firm on the inside with a tasty Sriracha sauce and another with barbecue sauce. Really good. The fries were out of this world delicious. Order these! On a day-trip to Hamilton and wanted a vegan meal - very happy to have found Democracy! A friend and I shared the Cauliflower wings in Apple-garlic sauce; I had the quinoa-black bean bowl and my friend had the BBQ Tofu Sandwich. Everything tasted great; and I would come again - it was worth the drive to Hamilton! Interesting space and friendly, helpful staff. A couple of points for improvement...it was a cold day and the restaurant was very cold - had to leave my coat on to eat - the slate table was cold to the touch. We live around the corner from this place and it has become a regular stop for sure. The whole menu is pretty much vegan/vegetarian and it all taste great. The service here is like no other, these girls really hustle it and even in the heat! The decor is an effortless pastiche of found industrial bits and is very innovative (table tops are slate from old pool tables). Overall experience is always excellent. The cauliflower wings were amazing. The sauce had the perfect heat with the cashew cream on the side. The mushroom Calzone fills you up, the sweetness of the bourbon bbq sauce with the tender mushroom blend melts in your mouth. Nice desert selection. Vegan heaven.

Love this little spot!! We come to Hamilton every now and then and always make a stop here for amazing creative vegan food. Nice draught selection and incredible coffees. Great job guys!!!

Tried the falafel on salad and it was excellent. Also good almond milk hot chocolate. The cauliflower wings are good albeit filling.
