Glows: Spacious rooms for the price. Good basic breakfast with local cheese, toast, boiled eggs, cold grain, fruit, juice, coffee etc. Excellent location and easily accessible by bus only a few meters from the hotel to the city or go. The restaurant is decent with very nice waitresses. The entire operation is very family-friendly and child-friendly. You go out the way to make sure that families in a budget have a decent place for overnight. Great value! Waxes: The guy who leads things needs a serious lesson about how to be friendly; I don't think I've ever seen someone so grumpy, fed against the smile and all along with life. Housekeeping seems to just go into your room and look at it. Literally NOTHING was done. No new towel, no facing ceiling, no vacuumed floor – nothing. We can also have left the "Do Not Disturb" sign like the first few days. Would recommend.
We spent 3 days in Kandersteg and had a wonderful stay at the Hotel des Alpes. Very nice hotel with restaurant about 10 minutes walk from the train station. Very friendly family run business with everything you want. Great service during our stay good beer choices at the bar and very good selection of dishes if you want a complete meal or just a pizza. We enjoyed the food and sit with the owner at the bar enjoy the time with the locals. The rooms were beautifully large for Europe, lots of hot water and large WIFI. If you come to Kandersteg for sightseeing, hiking or skiing, I recommend the Hotel des Alpes as a great choice to enjoy yourself.
A few times pizza looked ok, menu with variety. Older gentlemen at the bar told me that his bar is not an office, which means that I and my work should move to a table. I have no doubt that he does not take care of business or how the customer approaches. I take my business / recommend others go elsewhere.
