We visited Dice and a Slice for a Saturday afternoon as we have visited board game cafes elsewhere and were looking for something to extend date night to all day. We phoned shortly after opening to book a table and this was quickly sorted (although you can walk in if there’s availability). We visited as a family group of ten. There is a good selection of games and the children enjoyed playing. However the service and food is very poor. We waited an hour for food and when it arrived, it was low quality and tasteless. Some members of the group went without food for a further 15 minutes. Staff were unsure if the vegan food we ordered was actually vegan. Two of the party have gluten intolerances and were given the wrong food, resulting in both being very unwell overnight. I arranged to meet some friends in Castle Park, Colchester today to do a play reading . Unfortunately the great British Sumner let us down and it rained! Undeterred, we headed into town and chanced upon Dice and a Slice. There were 7 of us altogether. We had a very warm and friendly welcome from Drew, Chloe and Phoebe who could not have been more helpful, they catered for our every need! Four hours later after drinking, eating and reading our play we left having had a great time. In fact, we enjoyed the experience so much, we decided not to risk Castle Park next week but have booked a table at Dice and a Slice instead! Can't wait!!!
Visited here a long while ago pre covid and have not had the opportunity to go back again until last week when I met an old school friend I had not seen for 44 years. Still the same great service, but only had coffee as my mate does not eat cake ! I returned this week with my partner and we had a meal and I had cake too, which was very nice . My partner was slightly disappointed as there was only chocolate brownie on offer for gluten free people everywhere does chocolate brownie and he is a bit bored of it apart from that everything was very good thank you.

My trip to this establishment was rather delightful, the food was tasty and filling. The food was swiftly made and i ate it even quicker. The seating was luxurious to put it simply, the couch was extremely comfortable and cosy. service was impeccable and a sense of unity came from the kitchen. with everybody working efficiently shows great leadership. furthermore as i look around this hub of excitement, families and friends enjoying the cafe. My summary of this cafeteria is my rating! definitely recommend for all colchester go-ers.
We love dice and a slice and have visited many times either as a family at the weekend or myself and my four year old son in the week! Plenty of games to pick from and we have found some great news games we had never played! The food is all very good too especially the nachos! Always a lovely selection of yummy cakes available too! Great concept, simply done! Many enjoyable hours spent here! It is my son's favourite place he always asks to come here!
My cousin and I popped in with her 9 month old daughter. We ended up not playing games because the baby woke up as soon as we got in and she smelled the food! The staff were helpful and friendly and the food was nice although it took a while. It’s mainly snacks, but they made me a pizza from scratch with a kind of tortilla wrap base. I enjoyed it. The hot chocolates were really good! Would definitely recommend.
Such and amazing and inclusive spoace to have in Colchester. The range of food and beverages would surely suit anyone. The range of games in unbeaten, and you'll find small families, uni students, couples, and all other sorts having a wholesome time! Never fail to have a great time here :

Lovely little cafe and food was good. Young lady called Alannah really helped me with seating and accessibility to the tables. Would recommend a visit
Great afternoon with the family. Huge selection of games made it a gadget free day out. Would thoroughly recommend for all ages.
