My husband and I was in town for work. We got an hour lunch so we thought we would drop by this restaurant. Worst idea ever! We had to clear the last peoples dirty plates off the table just so we could sit down. Then after sitting at the table for 40 minutes someone finally got our drink order and food order. 1 hour later we still hadnt received our food. We asked if they could just put it in to go containers and we was told they didn't even start cooking our food. We left and went somewhere else. Obviously, we was late going back to work.
We were passing through town coming back from Shades State Park, and stopped here for lunch. This place is a must stop. Let me be clear, if you're looking for some fancy joint, this isn't it. If you're looking for great food at great prices and a down home atmosphere, this is your place. I can't wait to go back. FYI, if there's an older gentleman sitting in the back, it's probably Dick.
If you want to experience a small town restaurant with a friendly old fashioned feeling this is the ticket. It's definitely decades behind in feel and cash only, but authentic as they come and a bit of what is missing in a lot of small towns these days. A true survivor type, and for it's genre something you won't find many of.
Stopped here from Bloomington, Illinois on our way to Indianapolis and it was Fantastic! Great food and service! Cash only but prices are great!

The best grilled ham and cheese sandwich. BlackBerry cobbler and ice cream is always superb. The service is always great.
