Die Kantina is located on part of the old railway goods yards and I couldn’t resist the urge for puns. Although it was a busy night, the staff managed to stay on track. A large party turned up without a reservation. I’m sure they had...a loco-motive for not calling ahead. The staff quickly had them re-train-ed. Our beers arrived and we were soon happy chugging them. Seriously though, although it’s the only pub for miles it has a comprehensive regional menu, excellent food, very large portions, great staff. Strongly recommend Die Kantina.
The restaurant is located in the area of the old freight train station. Finding a parking space is therefore not a problem. Although the cantina is located in a commercial area, it is very quiet in the beer garden and you can sit comfortably. The lunch table is good and worth the price. You should try the homemade lemonade. ginger lemon has been tested by me and is really refreshing. The staff is warm and friendly. If the path leads me to Freiburg again, I will be back in the cantina!
I haven't used this word for years in connection with restaurants: a revelation! Even if I really struggled, I don't have a point of criticism. I always say: "Love something simple in well done as something Tedious in well meant '. Very attentive, friendly and fast service, honest and excellent local cuisine, very pleasant ambience, extremely fair prices, an interesting selection of wines and also a really good espresso. A rule.
After some months we visited again and still can recommend! Nice atmosphere outside (beergarden) and inside (former station) by now one of the last old places in this newly erected city quarter... Recommended for family and friends, also bigger groups. This time I had...„Ochsenbäckle“ (stewed beef cheek) very tender and yummy!

We were victorious in the Cantina and had a great evening. Great quality when eating, short waiting times between courses and staff, despite full locality, has regularly asked if everything is okay and was on Zack all night. We like to come back!
Waiters that speak broken English at best. Asked for veal (as written on the one and only English menu) got pork. Asked salad with only olive oil, got vinaigrette. Poor quality of food. Won't ever go back there. Just terrible.
We had 5 people on Sunday to eat and everyone was more than enthusiastic. Very delicious and freshly prepared food, nice staff and a great atmosphere. What you want more : Certainly, this is more often a repetition
It was a quick dinner on a business trip but a very tasty one and very very rich. The pork schnitzel was that big that it didn’t fit on the plate very nice staff speaking English

The pig bakers were excellent, location is great, operation nice and the food is very cost-effective
