Die Knolle - Reservar una mesa

Some years ago we stumbled upon this restaurant with a great selection of potato dishes and really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. So I recommended it to others who were also enthousiastic. So everytime when we're in the Melle region we try to eat...there, but last year the place was fully booked. This year we had more luck maybe because it was on a monday night) so we could finally eat there again. It's always very hard to make a choice because there's so much on the menu that's look delicious. So this time I had the rösti with chicken and mushrooms, and it really didn't disappoint me. Big pieces of chicken in a creamy sauce and great rösti. The place and the staff were all in "Oktoberfest" style which made the experience even better. A few days later, on friday, we tried to repeat the treat, but unfortunately the place was (again fully booked. So if you really want to eat here, make a reservation !.

Located in the heart of the town and easy to find this restaurant offers traditional German food in an authentic setting. The menu is extensive service a large variety of meals accompanied by an endless variety of styles of potato. I have visited here twice...in the last two weeks. The first time sharing a platter comprising of ribs, chops meatballs and bacon. And the second having traditional schnitzel. The food is great value on a mid range budget. Recommend.

We where there with kids under and they didn't serve even the drinks fast enough! And the worst was that my daughter ask for plate and the shrimp that you can cook very quickly) where raw!!! The good thing though, is...that is open at midday, when every other restaurant around are close! Maybe the bad service was because lots of people came in after a wedding! If you have a business, you better be careful in the quality of food you are given!
