Ding Tai Fung Shanghai Dim Sum

This Ding Tai Fung is not affiliated with the original Ding Tai Fung in Taiwan. However it does serve excellent Shanghainese food that does not shame the name.Their signature dish here is the Shiao Long Bao (juicy buns/soup dumplings) in both the plain and the crab tomaly versions. Each bite delivers hot soup and a very moist, meat filling packed with flavour. For lovers of Shiao Long Bao and Shanghainese food, you cannot go wrong here. However for those new to Shiao Long Bao, I found that there may be a textural issue with the rich softness of the meat filling for some. The soup dumplings are the best thing on the menu. I don't think iv had a bad dish here, and its really well priced. You can usually go for about 20$ a person and be full... and still take home leftovers. They are quick to bring your food out, but the only downside to this place us that the staff don't pay much attention to you unless you call them over. Iv sat there talking with friends for 30-35min after we were done eating, just talking, until we realized that no one came to clear the table or to bring us the bill after we were done. When all said and done, definitely worth a visit!

5 of us went there and were not given a menu. Only a simplified order sheet printed only in chinese. The Shanghai chaomiao, String Bean and Xiao Long Bao are ok. The soup hundun( dumpling) and beef noodle are below average. It was not busy time. About five waitress on duty but chatting or wandering nearby, not attentive at all. We had to wait for them to look at our table to ask for more tea or drink. Not recommended.

First visit and was not disappointing dim sum was the best we ever had. Had to wait to be seated , but well worth the wait, just Fantastic! The wontons were fantastic the tables were so cool the soup was Amazing not salty it was just so good it was just amazing Reserva una mesa ahora

The only down side to this place is the wait to get in. I wish they had 10 more tables. We chose to share a big table with 3 other folks. They were very nice, but we would have enjoyed our own table. The food...More

Clearly head and shoulders above the rest of the competition in Markham. As a regular, they have very good dumplings, solid sticky rice and noodles. Reservations are almost a must as it is always very busy here.

Visited this restaurant for past 10 years, recent visit was a bid disappointed. Not enough soup and salty. Hope they will improve soon. Long line up after 11:20am on Sunday.

The service and the food look good. The food is prepared and delivered to the table quite fast. On weekends, you will most likely have to wait 15 minutes for a table Reserva una mesa ahora

We had excellent juicy Shiao Long Bao and tasty Shanghainese food served. Service is a bit slow and parking is always hard to find in this First Markham Place.
