Having first seen Gemma and Raphael’s development of DIX’s on C4’s “A new life in the sun” and realising that it was very close to our usual stamping ground in Périgord, we just had to visit. Thank goodness we did as it’s outstanding in every...way. We had two fussy eaters (out of three) in our party but they were well catered for. In particular, Raphael’s vegetarian offerings received very high praise indeed! I could bang on about the food but suffice to say it was excellent and refreshingly off piste for what is quite a traditional area when it comes to gastronomy. Wow!! What an incredible restaurant which we cannot stop talking about! We went the first weekend in October for my partners birthday. Without exception, everything about Dix is superb! Gemma is wonderful as a host attentive, friendly, engaging yet unobtrusive. Raphael is a fantastic...chef with a unique and creative menu. We have had the privilege of eating in many top restaurants over the years and this would most certainly rival some of them!! I had the foie gras brûlée to start which was so indulgent, with the cod for main course. My partner had the Guinea Fowl for main course which was so tender. this is a must to visit place! gemma and raphael make a great job. it is small and the two lead an anglo French restaurant. we loved it: 1) gema is great, cares for her, but this is not a stuffy or formal fine dining experience....You can relax and ask about the menu without prejudice to judge. 2) eating was really top notch. it was great to try a series of different gears raphael made. we had ducks and steaks for nets that were both great 3) they see everything. there is a huge glass window that we see raphael and gemma at work. there is really no place to hide 4) they are both real profis. we counted 20 people in the night and they gave us all with only two. they work hard and earn everyth...
from the moment we went through the door, we were impressed. the decor was quiet and pleasant on the eye. the greeting was real and service was very efficient and friendly. on the first look the menu is limited and we were worried that it did not meet the foods our expectations. we were very wrong! the food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. it was fabulous to be offered something different to the usual rate of other local restaurants. I make some reviews commented on the cost. good quality ingredients are not cheap and eating here is worth every euro. an exceptional restaurant with owners who really deserve to be successful. we will definitely return. I visited dix to dinner last night after seeing all Raving reviews. I was not disappointed, it lived up to all expectations. when I booked, email mummy if she was able to get a praising cake as it was my mother. birthday and she did! we were warmly welcomed at the arrival and her service was impeccable all night. the interieur is cozy and stylish. eating was amazing! every cure was beautifully presented and so delicious! raphael the chef works hard in the open kitchen alone produce excellent dishes. he even had to come and talk to everyone table after the service. it is worth visiting! a very friendly place with a personal touch! will be back soon.
Such an excellent night at Dix restaurant that fully lived up to expectations. Gemma is a warm and welcoming host and Raphael a true star in the kitchen with son Louis supervising. From starter to dessert, the meal was exquisite, a real treat for the...taste buds, with a fine wine to keep us going. We retired satisfied to a beautiful boutique bedroom stylish and comfortable, and woke up to a delightful breakfast. You simply can’t go wrong with a night at Dix in the heart of the beautiful Dordogne. We hope to return soon!
Very good experience with Claudine who takes great care, the house is full of charm, tastefully decorated and located in a particularly calm and refreshing environment facing the basilica and a large park. Very clean house, very comfortable bedding. Delicious breakfast, we will come back with great pleasure. Thank you again Claudine for your welcome and your advice!
this was our first visit to dix and booked as we were in front of location. the food was delicious and tasty hospitality was warm and welcoming. the atmosphere was friendly, with a mixture of French and English customers. they have created a nice place to eat....Thank you both very much (and louis for such a pleasant evening. nestled in the heart of the village, a truly charming place. very nice room decoration, simple and warm. this trend of tasty fusion, which skillfully blends tradition and modernity, without artifices. Despite the prices we can judge a little high, we only ask to come back!
