This weekend, Patrick and I discovered a hidden gem located in Downtown Windermere – Dixie Cream Cafe. This diner-style restaurant has the mom pop atmosphere that many Orlando restaurants lack and is something I miss coming from small town Pennsylvania. It’s open Tuesday–Sunday from 8:00am-2:30pm and serves breakfast (ALL DAY! and lunch. In addition to the inside seating, there is also a great outdoor patio which is dog-friendly, so don’t leave your furry friend at home! The menu pretty much has every breakfast option you could ever crave, so it was extremely hard to choose what to order. When it comes to breakfast food, I’m usually in the mood for everything. If you were lucky enough to eat a DoWaDitty Omelet at Dixie Cream in Gainesville, Florida in the 70 's, you 'll remember the great food they served. The owner was a waitress at the Gainesville location back in the day as she said, and opened up in Windermere to carry on the tradition. The interior is fun and features artwork and murals. The waitresses are very friendly. We ordered 2 DoWaDitties and an Egg White Fritatta. Our eggs came with home fries and a choice of a fluffy biscuit or toast. Go for the biscuit. This is a regular stop weekly for one of the best breakfast meals in the Orlando area. There are specials daily that takes you beyond breakfast. If you enjoy large, flaky, soft interior but fully baked biscuits this is the place. Pancakes are fat flavorful. Staff are friendly, responsive and attentive. Sometimes there will be 15-20minute waits. You will not be dissapointed.

Shhhhh. Don't tell anyone.... This place is my favorite. Stephanie and her staff must eat the food too as they are all happy and accommodating! Southern hospitality, good food. You should change the name to Southern Dream....

Bananas Foster French Toast. This dish is to die for. It is like eating dessert for breakfast!!! So delicious!!
