came to lunch to celebrate my friend's birthday. the house front must be faster to welcome guests and sit them. my friend has booked a week in advance, but we got what I would call the nottical before the bar and next to the toilets. I appreciate that the place is busy, but the notable is for the last few minutes guests who are desperate. they served something very nice brot, but there was no attempt to remove the crumbs from the table between the curses. that is something I can expect from a restaurant with a first price. They present rather traditional than over-modern elegant cuisine using high-quality ingredients. Family-owned and driven, this place has a 30-year history and lots of regular guests. For us, it was the first time, bur we liked it and will be back some time. The 5-course menu...at 98€ is noch cheap, but omitting any course (can be the dessert as well) brings it down to 84€ and is still more than sufficient. Nice wine recommendations as well.
eating was good, but not exceptional. I had higher expectations to a restaurant in this price level. the waiter was friendly but forget to open the French red wine before the main course arrived, which had the result that the wine got enough...air such mistakes can not happen with these high quality weeping. it was interesting to try this restaurant, but I think I would rather spend my money somewhere in the future.
Mr. Dobler is offering great dishes for may years now and still has a decent price for them. I like the ability to just order a starter and a main if you don't feel like going for the larger menus. Wine prices are also fair....Given the heatwave we experienced here in Germany in recent weeks, one thing to mention is the air condition in this place. The price was a bit high but if it is a 1 Michelin star as other reviewers suggest then definitely worth it. I ordered the lobster bisque and the veal in mushroom sauce and both were fantastic. The service was superb, starting with translating the...whole menu verbally to English. The kitchen kept sending delicious amuse bouche that made it feel like a 5 course meal!
