Domaine De Clairefontaine

Lovely setting for a remarkable restaurant, in a spectacular park. Tree lovers, this place will enchant you! The Claire Fontaine runs underground and feeds a charming pond. The mansion sits deep in the park, all smoothly worn stone and burnished wood, both rustic and sophisticated. The level of sophistication increases as you enter.We did not stay at the Hotel in the Domaine, so this review is about the restaurant. We had a positively wonderful experience there. I can whole heartedly recommend the Signature menu with wine pairing. Exquisitely presented, full of fresh, authentic and sometimes bold but never superfluous, never garish flavors, fully in tune with local and seasonal productions, pleasantly paced and served by knowledgeable and attentive personnel, this dinner ranks among our best memories. We couldn’t have complemented or supported each dish more elegantly with our own wine choices than the Sommelier did with his offers. One quality particularly stands out throughout the Domaine, and that is the underlying, constant and seemingly effortless endeavor to please and make you happy, at all levels of the staff. If you didn’t know that Haute Cuisine is an exhausting and stressful matter, you would never guess it from your experience there. We cannot wait to go back.

We stayed at the Domaine de Clairefontaine and had three dinners there. It is one of the best facilities in the world, bar none. The restaurant has one Michelin star. We would give it three for sure. The service was excellent as was the food. The grounds of the property are very well kept. One caveat, the main building is difficult for people with a disability to access and exit. (Me). A banister on the main entrance stairway would help as would a ramp. That the room had a walk-in shower was a big plus for my wife and I. We would make an effort to stay again, notwithstanding the difficulties posed by the facility.

The Domaine de Clairfontaine is why we travel in France. A beautiful hotel and an expert French chef and owner, Monsieur Philippe Giradon made our stay unforgettable. A perfectly orchestrated restaurant service with trained eyes for all our needs. Between Lyon and our Sunday visit to Hauterives to see the Palais Idéale du Facteur Cheval, it was a perfect weekend getaway and not too far from our home in the French part of Switzerland. Bravo to all the staff and thank you again for a perfect stay.

This was definitely one of the best menus I have been served so far. Balanced, excellently cooked, innovative, varied, intense and made from many regional ingredients. Wonderful! This was my second year visiting here and the really great food paired with very charming service has convinced me again. It's worth every penny.

Perfect place to stop if going north on A7 from south of france. Delightful staff ! So welcoming and helpful. Very nice Michelin starred restaurant. Very tasty food and beautifully presented. Cosy lounge and super breakfasts. The rooms are clean and beds very comfortable. Lots of amenities. Lovely grounds ! Just perfect.
