The people and the service are nice. The food is mostly made of absolutely premium materials and fresh. The problem is that with good materia prima you don't need a lot of sauces. I had a starter of beef tartar a la Thai. Taste good, meat fresh, I could have done without the tendons in the meat. The main dish of my wife was lotte and gamba's. Well cooked but with two different sauces that were unnecessary. My main dish was goat, there was so much (a bit too salty) sauce on the meat that the taste of the meat was totally masked. All of this would not really have been a big problem, after all prices were moderate, if there would not have been a dog allowed into the dining room, next to our tab...
We stayed at Foolz as an overnight stop travelling back home. We liked the modern log cabins. They are very comfortable and were cool on a very hot day. (Presumably they are also warm on a cold day) A pleasant change to converted crooked old building or characterless Campanile type modern block. The location is very rural on the banks of the Seine - about 20 minutes drive from the two closest A26/A5 junctions.The restaurant is in the old farm buildings with a riverside terrace. It is on the expensive side and the menu does have some bizarre dishes so choose carefully. (We find that this seems to apply to all restaurants we have visited in this area.)
We've only tried this once, as a spur of the moment stop for lunch whilst heading north towards Calais, and found it very pleasant. The dining room [or terrace] looks down across the garden to the Seine, which is a shallow smallish river at this point. We ate a very decent lunch, especially the amuse-bouche [ a sort of melon soup] and the main course [guinea fowl on a bed of roasted root vegetables including three colours of carrot].Will definitely merit a return visit.
You do not go to the Domaine de Foolz for the food or for the decor, but for the view on the river Seine and the calm you can experience in a nice sunny day. It is also a good basis if you want to explore the producers of champagne of the Cote de Bar, a region so much different from the other three.

On a couple of further visits here I haven't had any issues with the staff being coldOn a weeknight there's a calmness about the place.
This is another one of those really cool little pubs hidden away from the main strips that I really like.
I was at the Park Hotel for a head wetting (hmm.no I'm not kidding..) a few weeks ago.
