Donana Restaurante

Went there twice during the new-year's holiday, and, at the first time, we couldn't understand the line standing out of the restaurant when we left, by 1pm, since we've eaten a just okay, pricey and really unimpressive fried fish. That interrogation fade away when we came back the next day and tried the shrimp moqueca (it's a typical bahian seafood stew with coconut milk and palm oil). It's been a long time since we've eaten a moqueca as good as Donana's. The shrimp itself was as fresh as it could be; the temperature, perfect; the colour, beautiful. There are other great bahian restaurants around Salvador's metropolitan area, but Donana Villas certainly ranks among the top 5. Once there, go...

My husband and I got married in Dana Villas hotel last year. It was unforgettable. The view is breathtaking. We stayed in a honey moon sweet with our own veranda and caldera view. The staff was extremely accommodating. The general manager, Panos, is very professional and just a pleasure to deal with (especially if you are planning a wedding). The hotel has a lot of stairs, so I definitely wouldn't recommend it to elderly people or people with limited mobility. My mom had a hard time going up and down the stairs. We, however, didn't mind it at all.

This place is unique in terms of food quality and tastefulness. I'm a recurrent customer. As an appetizer option, they have shrimp little cakes done with "tapioca" that is exceptional. For the main course, I tried almost everything without regrets, but the mixed seafood plate (aka mariscada) is the best of all. I recommend it times 10.

Can I give six stars? This was a lovely lunch. We started with the shrimp with tapioca; it was delicious. Oh, ask for the hot sauce that they have. We then ordered three different moqueca entrees: shrimp, octopus, and fish. All were perfect! The service was truly outstanding and we left very happy with our meal.

The shrimp moqueca was delicious and we add another plate with "siri mole", no idea of translation of this. It is not cheap, but he had 2 plates for 6 people, everybody had enough. You need to arrive early or will take long time on the lines. But worthwhile, it is outstanding!

It is a simple restaurant, but it haa a famous regional food, called "moqueca". It can be made of fish, shrimp and other ingredients. Some people complain about the hot temperature inside the restaurant. So far I have no complaints.

Technically a good moqueca (good ingredients), but lacks a special spice. A lot of (apparently fresh) shrimp, at least for São Paulo state standards. Service is just OK, nothing special. Reserva una mesa ahora

It is a great restaurant to eat "moqueca". A little expensive and hot. Good to go with family. Clean. Friendly staff.
