This place is strange and I really don't get it. They would think that the first rule of work in a cafe would be customer interaction and service, but it does not appear so in the ice cream café Gekko. The staff really doesn't seem to be interested and I would go so far to say they don't like people and especially children as they seem a real inconvenience. I said it was strange how to think children and ice cream would go hand in hand and be good for business. There is a new Ice Cream shop around the corner on lower trench that has much better ice cream and a better atmosphere.
The Gekko has by far the best ice cream in St. Gallen. It is a little hidden in Augustinergasse 20, but worth the search. My children and I, we usually keep on the way home from the city centre to get some vanilla or mango ice cream. Everything's done at home. You even have vegan ice cream if you are in this kind of thing. The owner is always friendly and especially my children love the place because there is the corner of a child. The selection of ice creams is good. I have to admit that I usually stay on the classics, the vanilla is sooo good.
