We have eaten here a couple of times before and had felt it was much better than what he had this time around. We still enjoyed it and the food was delicious. Our server was a bit harried and seemed to lose track of what she was doing and forgot about us a few times. Overall it was okay because we were in no rush and we enjoyed the evening catching up with old friends, but the service definitely could have been improved on. We had the all you can eat BBQ Kalbi, bulgogi, spicy bulgogi, and spicy pork bulgogi. I am blown away at how many good reviews this has on Yelp Google. First of all, the service is terrible. My wife and I had never been to a Korean BBQ place, we were hoping for more of a run through for it from the staff. We were given slim to no information from our waiter. Our waiter asked us if we would like Rice half way through our meal, we were supposed to get it but she forgot. The rice was old. Everything generally had the same taste. Not horrible but not wonderful either. Except the Garlic Pork Belly was horrible, that did not taste like garlic, it was foul. Short ribs were too fatty to even eat, unless you enjoy short rib gum. The service was good, but the Korean food at this sit-down BBQ place left much to be desired. The lack of ventilation made it difficult to determine when the last time the place was cleaned. The ribs were oddly textured and overly salty, while the short rib soup was greasy. The soondoobu was okay, but the beef seemed like low-quality scraps. The banchan was decent, but nothing special. Overall, this meal was a disappointment and I will not be returning. After spending $65, I know better now.
We went out for Korean BBQ for dinner. It took a while for the grill to heat up, so we had to wait a bit for the meats to cook fully. The shrimp seemed to have been frozen for a long time, as there were black spots on the shell. The beef also appeared to have just been defrosted, as there was still some ice on it. I recently visited this restaurant and have had many great experiences here over the years. The food was always consistently wonderful, especially the side dishes. Unfortunately, tomorrow (April 29th) will be their last day of business. I want to extend my thanks to the owners, chefs, and staff for all the great meals and memories. This restaurant used to be good when it was located at 700 East. Since then, the owner (a woman) has become very arrogant. I arrived at 2 pm (closing at 2:30 pm) and was told they were not taking any more customers. It is disappointing that they are not willing to represent the Korean community. In my opinion, going there would only support bad service.
Really disappointing experience. Food was very subpar, no sauces, rice was cold and bland. Brisket and pork belly tasted of nothing. There are much better kbbq options around SLC.
