We see this place every time we drive through 100 mile but they are only open from 5pm to 9pm. So we happened to be passing at 5 pm last night and stopped in. We were greeted by a really nice young woman who promptly took our drink order. The restaurant started to fill up quite fast. The menu is very unique they have German and Mexican food options. We ordered the chicken taquitos, Mexican wings, carnitas and the Wiener schnitzel. We were not disappointed everything was excellent. But I have to say the highlight of the meal was the chicken taquitos. This restaurant offers a fascinating blend of German and Mexican cuisine. I discovered it while staying at the Ramada nearby, and I decided to visit with some family members. We ordered a variety of both Mexican and German dishes for the four of us. I particularly enjoyed the schnitzel, which was excellent, and the mushroom sauce that accompanied it was delightful. This restaurant truly deserves a five-star rating. The steak was cooked to perfection, and they offer a great selection of beers. It's not limited to just Mexican cuisine; you can also find an excellent variety of burgers, pastas, and German dishes. The atmosphere is delightful, and the service is exactly what you'd expect from an upscale lounge.
El Caballo was recommended to me awhile back. I'm very happy we stopped in today. The chicken enchiladas were very authentic and extremely delicious! We had the best dinner during our five-night stay in the area at this restaurant. We recommend calling ahead for reservations, as it closes early and tends to get crowded right before closing time. While the menu is limited, it features a fascinating blend of German and Mexican specialties.
We have eaten hear a few times now. Always have the Mexican food which is pretty standard lots of beans, cheese and salsa. Not a lot to choose from on menu. I always get the chicken burrito which fixes my Mexican food cravings. It's a little over priced. The interior is clean, but dated.
