El Càntir is a modern restaurant located in Alga Hotel, in Calella de Palafrugell, a tiny town in Costa Brava, in Girona Region, in the North of Catalonia. We came here to eat a menu called La Garoinada (Garoines are a local seafood). We could taste 12 garoines (seafood) as first dish, a rice with seafood and blood sausages as a second dish and a homemade dessert. All dishes were excellent, we enjoyed a lot. Also, the staff was very friendly with us and the restaurant is very nice and comfortable. Also, we drank a local white wine, which was ok. So, it is an excellent option to dinner/lunch or eat Garoinada . We would like to come again! Were very excited to eat here based on the other views and the fact that we stayed here about 6 years ago and loved the hotel so were looking forward to a trip down memory lane. very nice welcome by Maitre d, amuse bouche, great wine recommendation, all looking good ... until the food arrived. We are well versed with modern food (ie small portions presented with style) and whilst the food was well presented it was not of good quality, flavours just weren't there and, worst of all, the food was cold. All of our main courses were almost stone cold. Desserts a big let down. All in all it was just completely over priced for the standard of cooking. Big let down dont waste your money.
Había comido aquí muchas veces, ya que había estado alojado en el hotel Alga unas cuantas veces. Recuerdo leer un menú muy extenso de más de diez primeros, diez segundos y muchos postres. Ahora hay varias opciones pero con menús más cortos y no me ha gustado tanto como anteriormente. El personal muy amable y el precio aunque un poco alto, correcto.
