I was disappointed with the salted fish dish as it hardly contained any fish. Recently, the portion size has decreased significantly, leaving almost just a single bite. To make matters worse, they brought the wrong sauce, which instead resembled allo macho. My wife and I have been eating at this restaurant for over 20 years, and we've always enjoyed our meals. The service is fantastic, and we’ve loved the ceviche, lomo saltado, mixed jelly, and allo macho fish, all of which were delicious. Unfortunately, the salted fish has become unappealing to us. We will continue to enjoy El Chalan, but we won’t be ordering the salted fish again.
This restaurant is just as expensive as places like Aromas del Peru, Pisco, and Nazca, but the food was quite disappointing. I ordered jelly, and it arrived overcooked and inedible. The shrimp were scarce, and when I opted for flat rice, I regretted it. Although it wasn't terrible, it was drenched in soy sauce, which was frustrating. I also had a flavorless parihuela that I couldn't enjoy. I really felt for the waitstaff, who were attentive and friendly. However, I have to say that I won’t be returning to this restaurant; it felt like I just wasted my money.
This place is a fantastic choice for a delightful dinner! It’s a cozy, family-run restaurant that serves incredibly delicious dishes with traditional Peruvian flavors. The service is exceptionally friendly, and the kitchen is impressively fast—your food arrives promptly at your table. I highly recommend trying their ceviches and everything else on the menu. This is definitely a spot you'll want to return to again and again!
While the restaurant shows a strong commitment to traditional cuisine, it's disappointing to see no Peruvian staff present in this iconic establishment. Furthermore, the absence of classic Lima background music from the past takes away from the overall experience.

We had an amazing experience during our visit. The Peruvian cuisine was outstanding, the portion sizes were generous, and the service was both friendly and efficient. It was our first time dining there, but we will certainly return.
This is the perfect spot to indulge in delicious and budget-friendly Peruvian cuisine. The food and service are exceptional. The manager has been there for years and is always remarkably friendly—truly the best!
Lomo Salvadoran was absolutely incredible and delicious. The portions were generous, and the serving sizes were just right. The ceviche was fresh and full of flavor as well.
Overall, the food was quite good, but I wasn't particularly fond of the fries because they were too drenched in sauce.
