The bartender from my hotel recommended Los Gauchitos. I went to the restaurant to get a to-go order. I purchased a Chivito sandwich and a caesar salad. Both dishes were very good. The only caveat that I would comment upon is that an 18% service charge for a to-go order is a bit out of reason in my opinion. There is a big difference between serving a table and serving a to-go order. To go order: grab the boxes from the cook, put them in a bag a process the payment. BTW there were no napkins or salt and pepper packets in the bag. While I was waiting for the order I had a beer but when I had finished the beer and the order was not ready, the waitress never asked if I wanted another beer. Upsel...
Staying in the Sonesta hotel and this was one of the closer restaurants. It has much better reviews on google but based on the yelp ratings I was concerned to go here. But the people on google were right that this place is tasty. We went for dinner and ordered the entrana, the picana, napolitana, and fettuccini con hongos. All of us really liked the food. The entrana and picana were excellent and the prices were very reasonable for the amount of food. The beans were fantastic. We just returned from TCI and we ate at some of the top TripAdvisor restaurants while there and this ranks as the second best dinner that we had over the last week. Came here for lunch. You have to ask for their lunch specials otherwise they won't tell you nor is it on the menu. Very clean and spacious. The restaurant has a dessert counter and bakery ans although I didn't verify , they may also have a butcher shop as a sign hanging in the store pointed past the wines said so. The food bills itself as Uruguayan , so you will find a lot of meat dishes and pasta. They seem to have larger plates to share if you go in with groups. Staff all wore masks. I would have given them a higher review but the steak I ordered came out very **** after ordering it well done. And what really got me is the service charge tax on top of the bill. As an argentine, I really wanted to like this place. I walked in and there were three employees chatting in a corner. They looked at each other in a sort of, who is going to take the counter look, and one of them came to take my order. I asked a few questions about the menu and got a I-am-bored-out-of-my-mind tone of voice from him. I finally settled on a personal pizza. The pizza was thoroughly overcooked. When I showed this to the counter person, they just shrugged their shoulder and said, looks good to me. I was too tired to argue so I took it and ate it. It was mediocre, at best. I devoured the food. I wish I had taken pictures but RIP to the milanesa de pollo. Didn't have a fighting chance . So so great! They were SLAMMED when I walked in and the service was amazing. They were apologetic and so very accommodating. The rice and beans ARE A MUST HERE. Also drown everything in chimichurri because yes, it's that good. Thank me later, bestie
Great local place for a fabulous meal Came here for lunch today(late lunch) I ordered the ribeye, fries and Russian salad... all on point!! Nice juicy tasty meat, fries were so crispy and delish.. salad was a bit on the heavy side when it comes to mayo.. but that's just my taste The staff were great!! I had the SALMON with rice and Vegetables. The service and friendly staff is awesome. I used to come by for Empanada Horneada and some desserts. However the more I keep trying the more I like. I love the people there, super friendly. I think I am going to continue to try more items in the menu.
