I was driving through Windsor on the way to Detroit looking for somewhere to eat when I spotted this place. So I decided to check it out. I like falafel, and middle eastern food so I was pretty interested in stopping by here. The food that we got her eastern fresh. It didn't taste like re-heated falafel, and the grapeleaves were pretty good. We aren't middle eastern, but we like to try different food, and I like middle eastern food a lot. There are many middle-eastern choices in Windsor, they all do well and successful, so choosing a best one out of the bunch is kinda tough. El Mayor is one of the good ones, but their dishes sometimes miss that extra touch, extra spice of flavour for some reason. I have been there so many times, for breakfast, lunch and dinner..service is okay, average..but the food is a hit and miss based on my experience. I have tried most of their menu items, recommend the kafta, shawarma and fish items. Living in Detroit, with a large Arab population in the metro area, I guess maybe I am a little spoiled by the wide availability of good Mediterannean restuarants here. El Mayor reminded me of many of the places I have eaten at in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights it was nice, reasonably priced, and delicious, but nothing that stood out as above and beyond. I had a mixed schwarma plate chicken and beef with rice, a glass of carrot juice that was terribly overpriced $4.50 for a small! , and chowed my share of garlic sauce with pita bread. I think this is the best in Windsor and my benchmark is going to Dearborn for 30 years. The food is very good, it's clean, the prices are in line with Windsor area restaurants and the people working here are wonderful. I've been going here for over 10 years and can say that it has been consistently good the entire time. Not one bad meal. Not one disappointing dish. Not one bad wait experience. Never a bad meal, staff always friendly. Can't beat a chicken shawarma sandwich and there hand cut French fries for lunch. For dinner we always eat family style and choose several dishes to share. Never leave hungry and the price is so good for families. Have to try there house made fruit drinks or fresh squeezed orange juice or lemonade. Yum! Make sure to leave room for deserts they are a must try.

My Boss and I went to El Mayor for lunch, we asked for a lunch special, the waitress said okay, she will bring us something good and not expensive, we ate, the food was just okay, nothing great, the bill was $65.00, we got ripped Off, I suggest you stay away from this place as its a rip off, the owners are crooks. Other Arabic places to eat that won't rip you off.

Whenever we visit Windsor, we absolutely must go to El Mayor. Family run, it is as authentic as you can get without going to Lebanon. The food is delicious, the portions beyond generous and the staff, while take a no-nonsense approach to service are nonetheless...kind and considerate. Hoping they reopen soon so we can continue to enjoy all they have to offer!

Ordered for delivery. Got the mix platter for two, tabule and side hummus. Mix platter included chicken tawook, beef kabob and kofta. Kofta and kabob were pretty good, but the chicken tawook was very tender and flavourful. The fattoush salad and tabule were great, and the hummus was fresh and real!! So good. Went there with my family. We were a party of about 25 people and we had this huge HUGE amazing platters with all kinds of Lebanese food, hummus, bread, kafta, rice, shish kabobs, fattoush salad I'm so sad I didn't take not one picture!! Definitely worth going there again

Great restaurant. We eat here every time we come to Windsor. Fantastic food and good service. Large bbq platter to share is our usual go to. Have been numerous times over the years.
