El Pueblo Taqueria

If you're on vacation in Cape May, treat yourself and your family to a visit to El Pueblo, just a short drive away, for some truly fantastic authentic Mexican cuisine. I tried the chicken fajita bowl, and it was incredible—definitely the best I've ever had. Food critic Craig Laban also sings the restaurant's praises. The atmosphere is simple, located in a basic strip mall, with wall art that pays homage to the Mexican flag and landscape. Feel free to wear your flip flops, shorts, and a t-shirt; it’s a BYOB spot where you can bring along some Modela and savor the delightful aromas of authentic Mexican food. Wow! The food here is fantastic. It was my first time trying a bowl, and I'm so glad I did. Everything was incredibly fresh and packed with flavor. The fresh chips with pico de gallo were absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back whenever I'm in the area. If you haven't tried it yet, do so—you won't be disappointed! Just a heads up, though: if you prefer ice in your drinks, this isn't the place for you. As for parking, there's plenty available in the strip mall.

I ordered the fish tacos and felt completely cheated. I added an extra taco to my order, fully aware that it would cost more, which I didn’t mind. However, there was barely any fish or other ingredients in the tacos. The little fish I did get was incredibly dry, and there was hardly any cabbage to be found. To make matters worse, the Spanish rice I ordered was undercooked. I wasted twenty bucks… It was just terrible, and I won’t be coming back.

I stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant, and the burritos were absolutely delightful! I tried a burrito filled with potatoes and guacamole, and it was packed with flavor. I highly recommend giving it a try. The restaurant has a self-service setup, but the staff was very accommodating and kindly served my group and me since we were the last table to place an order on a Saturday night. Very disappointed. Ordered a chicken fajita bowl. Chicken was dry and bland. Barely any onions or peppers. Just a tiny amount so they could list it in the ingredients. Filled the dish with rice and lettuce. At almost $15 it did not serve as a meal. We have much better Mexican restaurants in our area. I usually go to Dos Amigos but thought I would give this a try. Will Not Return,

I waited 50 minutes past the estimated ready time and saw my food sitting there for 10 minutes before I had to approach the staff to request my meal. Unfortunately, I didn’t receive everything in my order, and what I did get was cold. Overall, the food and service were very disappointing.

I had the fajita bowl for lunch, and it was massive—definitely a lot of food for an excellent price. We visited on a particularly hot day, so it was a bit warm inside the restaurant. I ended up with plenty of leftovers for another meal. Overall, it was a great discovery!

Really good place to stop for Mexican food. It was good and reasonably priced. Daughter got kids quesadillas and I got a chimichanga. Both were well prepared and tasty.
