The restaurant is in a beautiful setting and has a lovely atmosphere. I went with my mother in the afternoon as she lives close by. She had recommended the pub, but unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. The food was good, but the prices were too high for what we received. The gardens were beautiful, but they would probably be even better in the summer. There was litter in the surrounding areas which made it look untidy. The pub could do with some renovations, maybe a fresh coat of paint. The owner, who was serving behind the bar, was not very efficient. He seemed to be rushing and did not provide good service. When we left, I politely mentioned our dissatisfaction, but he just t...

The Elephant's Nest is a place we sometimes go to with visitors, not least because of its distinctive and remote setting on the Moor. This time it was with one of my daughters and her boyfriend, for an evening meal (and after watching Brighton ..Hove Albion thrash Tottenham earlier in the day.. We had decided to eat relatively early, and on arrival only one other table was occupied. My partner chose the eponymous elephant burger in a brioche bun, whilst my daughter went for boeuf bourgignon with creamy mash. Both men opted for the partridge and mushroom pie with red cabbage, an option not often seen on restaurant menus, and which came with a leg bone sticking out of the top! Everyone enjoyed...

We've been visiting this superb pub for about years now on family holidays. It really is a proper Inn in every sense, a perfect drinkers paradise with the added benefit of some fantastic food. We dropped in for lunch after a serious walk on...Dartmoor and the giant elephant burger was exactly what I needed. Incredibly well kept beers always to be found here, the local Dartmoor ales a great match for most dishes. Kids were welcomed and accommodated for, simply order at the bar and hot plates delivered to your table... Wonderful fireplace, great food and great beer, what more could anyone want?

overpriced very average eating, which seemed to be almost too much annoyed to cook and had arrived a long time. the renter was really rude for some of the customers and in all of them uninterested. his main concern was that his television agreed. look at them. their change. After I left the pub, I discovered that I had changed for a while. an honest mistake? you decide. shan has not returned, although it is quite local. I'm going to mary tavy inn instead. We were visiting relatives in Devon and decided to take a trip to Dart Moor and meet up with cousins from Cornwall. This was the perfect place to meet and have a pleasant lunch. The place is filled with country charm and everyone enjoyed the...meal. If you decide to walk the Moor afterwards be sure to bring boots and watch where you step!

The restaurant has a lovely ambiance with beautiful gardens that look even more stunning in sunny weather. The portion sizes are generous but the prices are not cheap. However, customers definitely get what they pay for in terms of quality.

A rather bizarre welcome, in keeping with other Tripadvisor reviews. However, it was the perfect venue for the end of a very wet walk with the fire roaring, excellent food (we had the Arbroath Smokie) and very friendly waitress.

Great little pub, excellent food. In the evening we had two fish pies, haddock rarebit and steak. All delicious. So much so we went back the following day for lunch. The baguettes are huge and delicious too. Reserva una mesa ahora

The food is poor and expensive, landlord was un-welcoming and un-engaging. This pub would to be better off run by someone else who has the skills to run a pub.
