I was eager to try this place and was a bit surprised when there were six employees behind the counter just hanging out. My son, 14, and I ordered. We found an outside table in the shade and had to ask for it to be cleaned. The employee brought a fork but no napkins. I went to get them from the station outside and there were none. Had to go inside to get some. I guess the employee couldn't be bothered to fill up the dispenser. So the food came and it was cold cold potatoes, cold bacon and my breakfast wrap was mushy and cold. Hidden Jewel Café. This place is a place that would compare with places in LA like Korallenbaum Café or Urth Cafe. During the small location the staff was top Notch, friendly, helpful and fast. The food was very good and they had a good selection of drinks with good tasting Latte's. This is a 5 star for us and I would also think most people. The only drawbacks there were not parking on site (less than one block though) and it is open seating, so you may need to wait a bit for a seat depending on how busy it is. I absolutely adore this place and often visit with friends and family. The food is amazing, but the service is even more impressive! The management clearly pays attention to detail, and we truly notice and appreciate that. Please maintain your high standards, as it’s what sets you apart. Additionally, The Egan House is a historic building, making it a must-visit for history and architecture enthusiasts.

Incredible Breakfast/Brunch/Lunch Spot! I’m talking about AMAZING!!! Every item on the menu looks mouthwatering, and it was tough to make a choice! I will definitely be returning. The restaurant has a charming historical ambiance, and the customer service was outstanding. I was completely unaware of this place before, and I’m so glad I discovered it!
We drive way out of our way to come to Ellies. The Lattes are all by themselves worth the drive. The pastries are magnificent and the Crème Brûlée is for anyone that has never had enough. The sandwiches are a sight to behold and the breakfasts are the best. Obviously we love Ellies and it is a good thing we don’t live closer.
This place is really talented at their breakfast and lunch foods. Egg dishes are very good here and the coffee can rival a Starbucks. We really enjoyed the early 20th century architecture to this building and its a perfect spot for breakfast after service at the mission.
I enjoyed the palm sandwich; Egg salad. The coffee was fantastic; they have “Kean Coffee”, the building is beautiful to see, the staff is wonderful and clean. Expect some waiting, but not long. Parking is very few. Near the historic San Juan neighborhood.

We were in search of a great breakfast spot, and we found one! The atmosphere was casual, the food was delicious and fresh, and the staff were very helpful. The pastries were excellent as well. We will definitely return when we're in the area.
This is one of the best kept secrets of San Juan and serves amazing food and drink at reasonable prices.
