Stopped in for lunch and was perplexed on how to order since everything was in German--no English. Our server was especially helpful and patient in translating and explaining the various dishes and board specials. I had the crepe with spinach and cheese while my wife ordered the roast beef stew with fried potatoes and salad. Both were delicious, large in portion size, nicely seasoned and were consumed in their entirety!!The local biere (Zwickel) was very good.Glad we stopped as we enjoyed the meal as well as the conversation with the two women who shared the table with us.
The small café/bistro is located in the old town of Esslinger, surrounded by beautiful old semi-concrete houses. There we have breakfast on Sundays and already served by the café's flair. The selection of different breakfast variations is enough, the ingredients were fresh and the corresponding portions. The services were friendly. If the café is full, unfortunately it is no longer so cozy, as the tables are very close. Otherwise we were very satisfied and will definitely come back to breakfast :
We have had a nice time here a couple of times with friends, coming here for brunch/breakfast. It has a nice laid-back interior and a outdoor seating is very nice too. Service is ok, it is usually pretty crowded. Food standards are ok, only. Bread is not that great, portions are big but not so refined. Have not tried it in the evening. In the end I have a favorite place just two steps away from here, so end up going there instead..
I ate here with local friends in August 2012 and ate the schnitzel - it was good (although not as good as another restaurant outside Stuttgart I have also reviewed). Varied menu, good drink choices. We sat inside as it was a hot day although it cooled off considerably by the time we left. Seating on the square is good for watching the local happenings.

Right behind the town hall with quick and friendly service. Unfortunately TK potato roast! The salad was crisp and the dressing was very delicious. Too bad that the male service power used to serve food and communicate with the customer has not worn mouth-nut protection!
