I confirmed when I got a confirmation text. we have come up to the time and host said it would be a few minutes for our table. 25 minutes later he tried to sit on the common high table. I told him I reserved a table and it was a birthday. he, aaron, was unapologetic that some larger parties had arrived so that we must sit on the community table. Spouse and I had a fun and delicious dinner here, we enjoyed the queso fundido with shishito paprika and mezcal margaritas. the hummer tacos were our clear favorites about the ducks tacos. but the manifestation of the night was dessert the kishu mandarins, the edible, which breaks up and pours out tequila toffee was a joy!
Alex I love you, but you are breaking my heart. I understand the reinvention, making the space more a bar than a sit down restaurant, but the smaller selection of tacos, the dip in quality of the once almighty brussels sprout taco, and the TV in front of that iconic mural take Empellon down a star for me.
Absolutely love this place. I go every few years and the quality of absolutely everything is consistent. Everything was absolutely delicious. Don’t miss out on the 7 salsas or one of the queso fundidos.

The brussel sprout and scallop tacos were excellent and creative texture, layers of flavor. This is my go to eatery before Jazz in the Village.
Great tacos and appetizers. Shishito peppers with cheese. Popcorn chicken was great and gluten free
best margarita in west village… I think I’ve tried most of them… also amazing happy hour.
