I lived in Mission for a year and had no idea that this little jewel had been sitting on the main street, across from the CIBC Bank and pleasing the city and visitors to Mission for the last 4 years!Walking through the door and spying the odd assortment of china cups and saucers on shelves, the heavy wooden tables and the lovely pictures of flowers on the walls, I thought I had just strolled into a proper English country garden, where I had been invited for tea.Complete with lovely and very friendly proper British servers, I felt at home right away, even though I have never been to England.Several varieties of quiche such as salmon, mushroom and bacon and tomato (pronounced the British way)...

I've known of it for a while, not hearing specifically from anyone who had been there; I thought it was mostly tea and cakes and I do not care for either. Walking one day on First Avenue I saw their blackboard on the sidewalk advertising lunch so I thought to give it a try, I thought soup and sandwich was a good idea for a quick lunch. It was busy and I saw only the two owners working but neither of them acknowledged my presence. I took place by a small table and finally the server came to take my order, I asked if there was whole wheat or rye bread, there was whole wheat but she did not know the percentage and would not answer specifically the color of the bread; I agreed to that bread for...

To be honest, I was always a little intimidated by English Tarts, it's not your traditional restaurant with a typical menu, a million choices, and loud atmosphere. English Tarts is as if you were invited over for lunch to the homes of either Bethan or Ruth(co-owners). It has a cozy feel inside,as well as an energetic, friendly and welcoming vibe from the minute you step out of the hustle and bustle of First Ave to the last bite of delicious home baking offered daily! They also offer High Tea. A tea time filled with a variety of sandwiches, desserts, and of course tea. I myself have yet to partake in this, though I do plan to one day in the near future. I do have a very soft spot for home made...

We were here in late morning. Our friend had insisted that we must not miss it. Didn't have a pastry because we had birthday cake for breakfast (don't ask ;) but they looked great.Too early for lunch so we ordered the roast chicken sandwiches to go. One of the best chicken sandwiches we have ever had! Lots of real roast chicken roasted and sliced on site. Lovely multigrain bread baked on site. Cranberry sauce made on site. So glad our friend talked us into going through Mission and stopping here. The server (I suspect from the accent that she is one of the English Tarts ;) was delightful.

Hey if your looking for some great food.. Look no further. This little gem in downtown Mission is wonderful. It has the best homemade soup and sandwich you could ask for. Everything is made from scratch and the flavors are amazing. They even make their own bread.. The deserts are so amazing. They offer high tea which I have not yet experienced but word has it that you would think your in England. The owners are wonderful English Woman and their humor is so much fun. Try it out you won't be sorry.

For Brits, like ourselves, it is a highly nostalgic venue but for anyone, it is a fun place to visit. Run by genuine English "Ladies", it offers a great variety of English (and Canadian) favourites, all of which are fresh and delicious. A nice cup of tea and one of their home-baked goodies will keep you coming back. They also serve excellent lunches. All in all, a fun, friendly place to meet friends.

My sister and I enjoyed a tasty bowl of soup and fresh sandwich (with the amazing homemade bread). The blueberry bliss tea was lovely. We were seated by the window and it felt like we were transported back to England in this quaint and cozy café. We will go back as it's hard to resist seconds in a place like the English Tarts.

Great service with fantastic homemade food. We love to have a bowl of home made soup with a fantastic sandwich on fresh bread. Then top it off with to die for carrot cake.
