I often went to Chinatown and still have good friends living there. As my wife pointed out this evening, this is the first time that we ordered from somewhere else in more than 10 years. I live a few miles from Enlai and I can say it is really close to quality as I go from Chinatown when we go to see friends. If Chinatown is 10 stars, Enlai is a solid 7 in my book. I have toddlers and so I wanted a wide spread for our first order from there to judge the menu. We ordered Mongolian beef, the special of shrimps with fried pork (the children would love this), the Pu Pu-Platter fried chicken rice crab lice and a few other dishes. I felt lazy and didn't want to cook for the family. I can honestly say I would order everything again, cooked wonderfully and not complaints. I would like to add that places in Chinatown are hard pressed to beat the wonderful tasteful dish of shrimps with fried pork rice I ordered for my children, you love shrimps and rice, so I thought it was a good choice for them, I had a few bites to try it and I was amazed. The Mongolian beef I order for me was a delightful dish, and the Crab Ragoon was one of the best I had, Top 3 easy. I have a friend since my childhood who is from Japan and at the next visit I would not think twice about ordering Enlai Chinese restaurant for a nice meal at home with them. Not the best place in Chicago, but they have good quality food that is not far behind them with much lower costs. I would recommend going there as my wife called problems, but it turned out to be perfect order in person for them.
