Enter from the car park towards the main public entrance, ignoring the rather unsightly but authentic wooden game larder. Identify by name, without any indication of what it is apart from a paper notice attached to a tree), and you will find a friendly welcoming cafe with a good range of snacks. We were offered a good baked potato in two halfs,as one generous helping was too much for my wife and myself. The coffee was good,but not over hot. Interesting copy photos and posters around the walls, and generally a warm and friendly atmosphere, Toilets available nearby.
We visited for some lunch during the craft fair, there was a long wait for the food but I think the staff were struggling with the unusually high volume of customers so can’t blame them. It was quite cold with the door opening and closing, but again caused by the amount of people coming in and out for coffees etc. I had the gammon and chutney sandwich and was pleasantly surprised to find the gammon was warm, absolutely delicious! The home made chutney was excellent too. Will return when visiting house of dun for a walk again
Beautiful location but had to pay £3 to park before access to the cafe. Friendly reception from the staff but too cold to sit inside on a warm sunny day so we sat outside at a picnic table in the courtyard in the sun. Hearty food at reasonable prices. Unfortunately a noisy lawn mower spoiled the atmosphere for 20 minutes conversation was out! Shame it was deployed during lunch. Maybe chose the wrong day and the alcohol licence was still being applied for!
Called into Erskine's before visiting the house. Had the soup and sandwich which was very nice. There was a choice of two souls, both homemade and very tasty. Service was excellent and staff welcoming and obviously happy in their work

Spacious cafe in the grounds of The House of Dun. We all had the soup of the day which was lentil and which came with a selection of oatcakes or different bread and butter. Coffee was good and a nice selection of cakes.
Service,food.,value bit at the bottom of pager did not work so I put it here. 4 for them all. Garden and walk great. Inside the house was very nice and the guide was great too (Helen). Yes we would go again.
Visited after tour of House. Very filling sandwiches (ham and blt) with cucumber and tomatoes from the garden. Good coffee too. Unfortunately didn’t have room for delicious looking cakes!
Had lunch here. Menu had a good choice which was well presented. Good value for money and nice sized portions. Could get as much or as little as you wanted.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch prior to our fascinating tour of the House of Dun. The pulled gammon and chutney sandwich with salad was very tasty.
Lovely way to end an afternoon at House of Dun. Nice tea and great cheese scones.The menu looks good and the staff were attentive.
