Pretty ok for dine in, takeout out or a catered party. I've had Famous Dave's a couple of times now. It's ok for a franchise rib joint. It's neither sublime nor ****. It's good, not super authentic or knock your socks off great, nor is it mediocre. The coleslaw is really good, very rich and just right edge and tang to it. It's zesty and I like my coleslaw zesty. Mac and cheese is good, but definitely a little different. They add corn to their own recipe. I don't get it, but it's ok. It makes for extra crunch, I suppose. To each his own, I say. The bbq ribs, the mainstay of any rib restaurant, are okay. The sauce is good, the profile of flavors seems right and the portions are good. My ribs have always been cooked properly, no complaints on this. Are they award winning and a masterpiece? Nah, but they're good enough, relatively tasty and filling and the sauce is good, if not particularly wowed by their taste. They need a few more options if you're dining with vegetarian minded family, but it's a decent place e for ribs as long as you don't mind knowing what you're getting. Service and location are average, food is decent, price is ok...
I'll go in the middle of the road for overall service and food. I sat at the bar and the bartender couldn't be more accommodating. But where I knock the couple stars off is the food. Maybe my expectations were too high since the last time I ate at a Famous Dave's was over 10 years ago in South Dakota. We use to eat at another Famous Dave's out west twice a week cause of how good it was. I couldn't get enough of the brisket when we went. Here the food was ok but nothing to bring me back unless I was in the immediate area and other places were busy.
BBQ was definitely on my mind before visiting Flint. After exploring the murals decided to check this place out and it was for sure a great choice. Ordered 2 meat Combo(Chopped Pork Turkey smothered in gravy) that came with Corn bread and Side Mac cheese( $10). My friend got chicken and Rib tip meat along with Bbq beans. Burnt Rib Meat and Chicken was Amazing. Pros: Good Food Friendly Staff Quick Service Spacious Funky Interior Ample parking space Clean restrooms Wifi Lot of Food options close by Cons: None to me
Spent $50 on a delivery. Worst BBQ I've ever had. Tried them 3 times for fairness and still just the worst. Beans are undercooked. The ribs were, once again, overcooked and dry as a paper towel. The only item that was even close to being edible was the sweet corn. And even that was mushy and overcooked. That was my last try at Dave's.
