To begin with, I have to admit I only went to the Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem to say that I had been to the oldest (purportedly) pub in the islands. And I fully expected it to be a giant tourist trap, with a heavy dose of social distancing thrown in. After a pint I planned on heading over the Nottingham Castle and do some tourist stuff. And I certainly didn't plan to eat there. Well, that all changed after about 10 minutes in the place. What a pleasant surprise! I can honestly say I've never seen a pub grown out of the side of a cliff! And you feel like you could be an extra in a Band of Merry Thieves spot. The place is magnificent. You HAVE to have a pint in here if you make the trip to Nottingham! It's the oldest pup in England, apparently, and to sit inside and soak up the history was enough for me.... Great pub. Guinness was perfect! I only had the chips so I can't really write a food review based on those, although they were delicious...
The server accidentally dropped half of my wife's chips on the table and did not offer to replace them. The plates and glasses were only cleared once we placed a new reservation card on the table, which meant we had to look at dirty plates for over an hour. The food was just average pub fare.
I had a great time at this restaurant! The atmosphere and history are really enjoyable. The food was just okay, but the nice ambiance makes up for it. They also offer a good selection of beers. Overall, worth a visit!

The food and cocktails were amazing and affordable. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was relaxe, making it perfect for a cozy dinner date. I would definitely come back again.

The sticky toffee pudding we had here was the best we tried in all of England! Every dish was delicious, and the atmosphere was fantastic.
