While this place has an overall excellent rating, there is room for improvement. First, the setting and location are out of this world—the perfect out-of-the-way place to find a good Q-shack on the banks of the Mississippi. The building itself is new. on entry, you are at the start of the ordering line. For a first-time visitor, it's a bit confusing and noisy, which makes the process a little more stressful than it needs to be, They still have COVID/sneezeguard up, which interferes with ordering clearly. This barbecue joint is better than any in Texas! Fat Jimmy's has mastered every dish on their menu. The staff is incredibly helpful and provides excellent service. They take the time to explain each dish so you can make the best choices. The BBQ here is absolutely delicious and will make your mouth water. Fat Jimmy's has won a place in our hearts forever! I had a fantastic dining experience at this hidden gem located along the river. There were plenty of options to choose from when ordering at the counter. The brisket was particularly delicious, and my family enjoyed the burnt ends and pulled pork as well. The cheesy hash browns were a standout dish. If you find yourself driving along the Mississippi River Road North of Keokuk, I highly recommend stopping here for some amazing BBQ.

The barbecue at this restaurant is fantastic, with generous portions and perfectly smoked meat. The variety of sauces available is wonderful and it truly embodies the all-American BBQ experience. The bourbon pecan ice cream is also a standout and I absolutely adore this place.
What an amazing place. The service was amazing, they really care. The food was by far, the best we have ever eaten from the main course to all of the homemade amazing sides!! The location is beautiful!! Well worth the trip, several trips at that!!
We are from the suburbs of Chicago and the dining experience was excellent. Everything was cooked perfectly. This was our third visit and we were never disappointed! We will definitely be returning to the city next time!
Food was great! I had the tri so I could try more options. Excellent and well kept venue with a nice outdoor space as well.

Great food and great live music out on the patio. Went with son's family and the grandkids love being able to play.
