We went to this hotel yesterday to scout around for somewhere to eat lunch that day with family. A female approached us and said they weren't open for another five minutes and escorted us out claiming the gate was locked and we must have opened...it. Well the gate was unlocked and she was rude. I hope the owner does something about the way she handles guests. Couldn't just have us sit quietly for five minutes while opening up? Nah, too hard. As ex publicans ourselves, we couldn't believe not only our treatment, but also the treatment of other patrons trying to enter through the unlocked gate.
After a long walk we were passing The Federal and dropped in for a drink and a meal. We sat in the shady courtyard and were pleased to see that the big screen was on the sports channel. We were able to sit for an...hour or so and have a leisurely meal of Chinese Spiced Chicken and Savoy Spring Rolls as well as a drink. The entertainment was a local guitarist singer called Darryl Gibbs who was very good. We came away with the impression that the pub music scene in Fremantle is alive and kicking. This hotel has a DJ playing on Saturday and Sunday nights.
On Saturday, July 16th at around 5:30 PM, a group of five of us from the Salvos-Shop Fremantle came to this restaurant for a birthday dinner. We ordered 5 meals: a steak and chips with salad, fish and chips with salad, a parma and chips with salad, and a kangaroo burger. Unfortunately, the burger was burned black, the salad was minimal with only a few cherry tomatoes cut in half, the parma was undercooked in the middle, and my steak was not cooked to my liking. Overall, we were very disappointed with the quality of the food.
Great Sunday lunch, the beef was superb, a lovely cut, cooked to perfection. Not chewy in the slightest with a bit of fat for taste well done to the chefs on the beef. The gravy, carrot puree and peas were perfect. The roast potatoes could...of been crispy and the tiny Yorkshire pudding would of been more suited to an oliver twist story than to Yorkshire but overall a fab Sunday lunch for 20. The food in the federal has become some of the best pub grub in fremantle.

Had a Sunday lunch here last week and we reserved a table next to the fire as it was a cold and wet day outside. Service was good and we were placed right in front of the open fire. I ordered the Sunday roast special...that was Pork and veg inside a Yorkshire pudding. Interesting meal but was very tasty and good value at 20. Other meals had by our crew were well received and no complaints. All in all it was a good afternoon and we will return.
I haven’t been here since it was Rosie O Gradys and I was so surprised by the way they have done it up It’s so much nicer inside, with separate sitting areas depending on what your looking for. There is the sitting around inside, the...TAB area and outside. The food has plenty on offer and is really nice!! Prices are very reasonable too, also a lot of different beers on offer too Would recommend dining here if you are in freo
We were unable to sleep in our room due to the noise, so we had to leave the same night. The management and staff were very rude and lacked customer service skills. When I complained about not being able to sleep and requested a different room, they told me to deal with it. I suggest not wasting your money here. Additionally, there was no hot water for showers and they did not respond to emails or help us arrange anything.
Been here quite a bit over the last few months, to watch sport great outside in the beer garden with big screen and for quiz nights Disney quiz night was sold out and then just for dinner with family and friends. Really nice atmosphere and...great food, highly recommended in the middle of freo town centre plus a TAB for those who are interested .

when they get a throw to sleep in their camper, mid summer in the northern territory as hot as the fire of the hell come and stay in the federal hotel! the ventilator is completely useless, at the high deck of the room....Not to mention, obviously it is a pub so we expect some noise, but the band can also have played in our room. will never stay.
