Turned up late after driving all the way from the UK For an over night stop. Found this bar/restaurant which appeared open (it was 245pm). We asked if they were still serving. After a “non”, they then said they could do us a salad or something simple. So we asked for an assiette of charcuterie and cheese. On the menu outside a sharing platter was 15.90 euros or a simple assiette of charcuterie was 8.90 euros. When the bill came we were charged 15.90 x 2. I was too tired to argue the bill but they completely exploited us. I speak French so it wasn’t a miscommunication. Why would I have wanted 2 x sharing platters for 2 people!! I also wasn’t convinced that the two glasses of Minuty were minut...
A planned visit to the town…we stopped in for food drinks…the restaurant waitress was ignorant and passive, the manager was very rude in his demeanour and the way he spoke to another waitress (thinking we couldn’t understand french) in front of us. I tried to make an effort speaking french (I don’t speak French but try to learn and make an effort) which they wouldn’t acknowledge. What they didn’t realise was my partner speaks fluent french and understood everything. Overall experience was very uncomfortable. The salad was nice… This review is to hopefully help them improve for other peoples experience in their restaurant in the future.
Sunday night in Chalons there is limited choice so we ended up here at rec of our hotel. Good location on central square by Mairie and we ate outside. We had the plats du jour which were ok but we were disappointed they both came with chips and salad. Decent selection of wine by glass. If we went again we would try the sharing platters that we spotted on other tables and they looked good.
Excellent meal Friendly staff and who did his best throughout the evening but with a lot of misplacements.... Tenue 1 hour to get the dishes. The customers who arrived after us were served quickly but not us .... Great disappointment: they could have offered us the coffee to get forgiven for waiting.... I still recommend because it was really good
