We've just come back from a Thursday evening meal at this place and it was a really odd experience. Firstly, I think it's important to point out that this is not a restaurant. You will be eating in someone's home and the food has a home-made quality to it. We'd read that you have to book as it's really popular, but there was just us and one other man in the large dining room. No other tables were set - so clearly no one else was coming. Given that this is the end of July, and supposedly peak season - I don't know where everyone else was.The place was completely devoid of atmosphere. Another reviewer described it as intimate - but that was far from our experience. With only us and one other, no mood lighting or background music, there was absolutely no sense of privacy and I found it really uncomfortable. There were animals running around all over the place. The dog sat next to us begging for food, and at one point a cat jumped on the other man's table. We could see and hear the TV in the kitchen next door, and because the window was open in the kitchen, there were flies everywhere. The food was ok - nothing special. It was good, solid homemade food. The presentation was pretty basic - nothing like the pictures posted above. The terrine, had clearly just been scooped out of a jar and was presented on a single luttice leaf. The pork was very good, but the salad that came with it was drowned in walnut oil, that completely overpowered the other flavours. The dessert was 2 slices of tart, which was good, but could have done with some creme fraiche to off-set the sweetness. At 28 euros, we had expected more. More consideration over ingredients and presentation and certainly more atmosphere. We would not go back. Perhaps better to buy the pork from the farm shop and cook it yourself.
