Original post: I was in Newquay for work, tired of the usual meals found in Indian and Chinese restaurants. So, we decided to indulge in some fish and chips at Flounders. We sat down to enjoy our food and were greeted by the friendly staff. I ordered a regular cod and large chips with spicy curry sauce. The fish was enormous, almost like a whale! The batter was perfectly crispy and the chips were delightful, while the curry sauce was fantastic. My companions also enjoyed their meals! This has to be one of the best fish and chips experiences I've ever had. Highly recommended if you're in the Newquay area!
I was genuinely impressed by the quality of food they offer here. It's a bit surprising that they only accept cash in this day and age, but that's just a minor drawback. They serve a mild curry sauce and a spicy one, which is reminiscent of what we refer to as Irish curry sauce, though it’s less sweet than what I’m accustomed to when it comes to the spicy version. The chips are really nice as well. I would definitely consider coming back again at some point.
The portions are sizable, and the staff is delightful. The chips were light and crispy, while the fish was also nice and crunchy without being overly greasy. However, I found the haddock to be a bit thinner than usual, as it typically has a meatier texture, which is why I'm giving it this rating. Overall, it was a very enjoyable visit.
Absolutely delicious fish and chips cooked to perfection. Very reasonably priced . Fast friendly service even able to sit inside and eat at no ectra cost. Definitely plan to eat there again when we next return to Newquay.

We LOVE Flounders!!! If you get there and it isn't busy, you're in luck and you've done well, although even when rammed full, we've never had to wait to long. Delicious fish and chips every time. Never had a complaint.
Best fish and chips I’ve had outside of Scotland. Had such a laugh with the lady who took our order lovely staff. Would love to know what curry sauce you use as it was fantastic?
my favorite fish chip shop in newquay. faster service. very central. the fish is so fresh. I highly recommend this place.
good portions and many options apart from fish chips also. the most popular chippy in the opposite and in the rule busy.
