We had some errands to run on a Sunday morning and this was the only local place open for breakfast so we decided to drop in. We haven't been for a while because the last meal we had here (over a year ago) was sub standard. However, we were pleasantly surprised by how clean it was, the friendly and professional attitude of the staff, the efficiency of service, and also the food on this occasion. We had the English breakfast and a coffee and it was all nice. Based on this visit, we'll definitely visit again.
Popped in for lunch on a Saturday. It wasn't too crowded but also not empty, which gave it a nice vibe. We ordered via the app and the food arrived in around 20/25 minutes. The vegan fish chips was delicious and one of the best fish alternatives I've had. The jerk chicken special was a decent size portion and was mostly hot aside from a couple of the wings. The roast jerk chicken had a nice taste but we were let down but how dry and overcooked it was.
Visited today ordered a rump steak from the mix it deal from the menu. The steak really fatty when mentioned this to the manager I was told they would mention this to their supplier!!! Asked to take some chicken strips home they said yes and put some foil on the table for us to wrap the food in!!!! All in all not great I must say all the staff were very pleasant. We were offered an ice cream on the house! J
Was lovely to see Callum back at the restaurant. had a lovely meal of scampi thoroughly enjoyed it. I lost my dear husband back in May 2014 and he is dearly missed ..Callum was very good at looking after me on that day.. Will definitely be back

Not a great 1st impression when you are walking in two women are doing a fantastic job of impersonating two fish wives their prowess at how many swear words they know who can shout them the loudest
Burger was really dry husband had mixed grill ran out of chicken so gave him extra onion ring. And I mean Ring (1) steak over cooked staff had no interest when we told them won't be going again
We visited as a mixed group aged 4 to late 50's, something for everyone, reasonable prices, good choice and great staff. All 6 of us enjoyed the experience very much.
Portion sizes (specifically fries onion rings) are little on the small side. Not sure if this was intentional or that somebody tripped and lost a few on route.

Excellent food, generous portions and friendly staff at a reasonable price. Service was very quick and we will return when we’re back in York.
Not very good staff very abrupt and quite rude food over cooked.
