After a number of restaurants in Serignan we chose Valras. Unfortunately not booked (Missnahme Nr. 1) it was so busy to make a quick return to Serignan. Luckily Brasserie Fop had a table, so we made the decision to eat there. Initially, the service was slow, as you can expect sometimes, but as we already had an ordeal in Valras, our mood was already slightly spoiled. I really don't understand why this place isn't ranked higher among Serignan restaurants! We've eaten at most of the establishments in the square, I think the intense competition keeps the prices low - 13.9 euros for three courses is a fantastic deal. My wife had the seafood platter for starters - no oysters available unfortunately but the prawns were great - not a great fan of sea snails though! The menu is in English but also states that the staff only speak French, which is the ideal combination. We have been visiting Serignan for the last 8 years but have never until recently ate at Fops. We regularly stop there, it is where we get off the bus from Beziers and have a drink, but this last visit we made a point of having our lunch there. Enjoyed it so much we went back for our evening meal the next day. This is a local, unpretentious and excellent value bar/restaurant. Decided to pop out fir lunch. Came to Serignan, tried this restaurant fir the first time. Glad we did. Food was very good. I had Zarzuela fir the first time - paella like. Very good. Service was south of France style - everywhere is slow. We will come back though as the food was great.
If you are in this area and feel like a good steak Fops fau fillet is unbeatable. To get a good big, you have to order it alone the on the cheap and good value menu is significantly smaller. And his chips are first class not the burnt offerings you get in many places.
Good range of dishes offered on the fixed price menu and a la carte options. Good quality food justifies the loyalty of its local clientel. Friendly helpful service.
