Lovely old building in a great location opposite the Robin Hood statue.. We arrived early no problem, our table was ready. Provencale greens soup with focaccio bread for starers was spot on. I had the mushroom bourgignon pie for my main. My wife had steak ale pie. Both were very good. The meal was washed down with very nice ale. Our waiter, Kyran, was excellent. The place was busy but he was always on hand to help or replenish the drinks. A real asset to the restaurant. Well worth a visit but be sure to book!
Looking for a great place for lunch? Try Fothergills in Nottingham. We came in for a post graduation lunch and we were NOT disappointed. The food and location were perfect (highly recommend the steak and ale pie), but the star of the show had to be our waiter Sébastian. If you want quality service he is your man! He had it all! Thanks again for a brilliant lunch, from myself and the family. We are all heading home stuffed and more than satisfied.
The atmosphere was lively, inviting and buzzing with awesome internal decor and amazing views of the castle visible from our table on the first floor. All staff were lively, friendly and helpful and the food was amazing, way above the quality of the average good restaurant, both in terms of taste and presentation. Good vegetarian options too. Would highly recommend.
We were a family of 8 and were taken care of by Marek who was incredibly kind, funny, and attentive. Each of us loved our dinner and the chef even accommodated the children’s meals; thank you Marek for asking! Great music and atmosphere. Highly recommend to all! We will be back.

2nd time in Nottingham and found this place by the castle. Enjoyed it emensely! Had a scotch egg which was cooked petfect and the mustard sauce and picked onions make it even better. Had the steak and ale pie and again full of flavor and the veg was excellent as well!
One of the best places to eat in Nottingham. Staff are really lovely, food is exceptional, and location is out of the way, but close to city centre. Eaten here about a dozen times and always good.
