First and foremost, they use Hummel hot dogs, which gives them an automatic advantage in my book. The hot dogs are cooked, then deep-fried, and the buns are toasted to perfection. In the over 30 years I've been coming here, I don’t think I've ever had a bad one. They offer both curly fries and steak fries, so you can choose your favorite. I'm a big fan of the chili cheese dog and appreciate the variety of toppings available. I do have two minor complaints: first, they only have yellow mustard and no spicy brown; and second, the prices could be lower. However, they have recently introduced a few deals that have made things a bit more affordable.

I loved this place as a teenager and I'm so glad it's still around. The hot dogs are fantastic, the menu is extensive, and they even offer notary public services now! I ordered two foot-long hot dogs and some onion rings. The food quality is pretty much what you'd expect. The staff at the counter were friendly, and my order arrived in a timely manner. The crowd can be a bit questionable since the restaurant is in a less than ideal area, but I think that just adds to the overall atmosphere and experience!

The service was quick and friendly. The food was tasty, I love the 2 beers for $8! The restaurant was clean and easy to dine. We had University of New Haven T shirts on having come from a game. Without asking they offered a discount, nice surprise!
